This video shows how to request final authorisation of your drone flight from Air traffic control, via the AirShare mobile app. By requesting final authorisation via the app, you don’t need to call the tower before flying your drone unless ATC advise otherwise. You can use this function within 30 minutes of your filed flight time.
Please note that this functionality can be switched off by Air Traffic Control due to operational requirements. If the option to request final authorisation doesn’t appear on the mobile app, you must still call the tower to gain final authorisation to operate. This functionality is only available in Whenuapai, Christchurch, Palmerston North and Hamilton control zones.
